Wind Light, Petite Ange and Fashion Victims
First I was going to just write about this cute sweater dress I got when I went over to Petite Ange at the Fashion Victims shopping area, then I was going to talk about the Fashion Victims Scavenger Hunt where I got the Limited Edition Tete a Pied Skin, then when I got to talking the photos I started playing with Wind Light… and now I will just write about all three.
The evening start with Tamara Kirshner, Madison Carnot and I setting out for a girls night of shopping, it had been awhile and we were in need of a fix. We searched the blogs and checked out a few stores we wanted to see and then we ended up at Endicott to look at the new Fashion Victims shopping area. We knew the Scavenger Hunt was that night but we wanted to look around at the stores ahead of time, since we know the sim would be lagging a little too much later to do much shopping. There are many stores there we know and love but we found a few that were new to me. When we walked up to Petite Ange the first thing I saw was “Sweaters” and since we live in North America, and it’s almost winter, sweaters are a draw for us. I got a Fat Pack of the Fringe Knit Sweater, it’s more of a sweater dress than just a sweater, in the dark colors, there are pastels too, and matching leg warmers and knit hats. This dress comes with a muffler scarf, but it wasn’t too cold tonight so I chose not to wear it too.
Later we went back to the shopping area and started hunting for shopping bags. There are some Limited Edition items and I seemed to have found a few but when Roalin Petion of Tete a Pied put out a group notice for the first 10 people who find her to get a Limited Edition skin, the hunt was on. I was searching and searching with Tamara our Mysti-Tools told us she was near… but she must have been moving. After awhile of not finding her Tamara decided to go to bed and I was going to give it one last try then off to bed with me. Well somehow I ran into Ros and I wasn’t number 11 as I figured I would be. She dropped on me a pack of Limited Edition Vivant Dakota Skins in 4 shades. Earlier in the evening we went to TaP for the new release and I picked up one of the 3 make-ups of the Dakota in Buff, the Fat Pack had a different make-up than what I had already seen.
Now for Wind Light as I was taking photos of my finds I was playing with Wind Light, then I decided I better take a few with the regular Second Life Viewer. I put together some collages of my efforts. I did not do any more than change the time of day of the sun. I did not have on a face light, I’m sorry for those who swear by them, but in Wind Light they have little effect. There is more to Wind Light than pretty water and clouds. If you start playing with the environmental settings you can change the lighting and colors of your surrounding. Will fashion photographers like it? That depends on the look you are trying to achieve and how much time you are willing to put in to play with the settings. Yes, almost anything can be fixed in Photoshop, but personally I like trying to take the best photos I can within world, with little to no Photoshopping needed.

From left to right settings: Wind Light Noon, Regular Viewer Noon, Wind Light Sunset, Regular Viewer Sunset

Bottom Row: Time of Day: Sunset, Left: Wind Light, Right: Regular Viewer
And right now if you are thinking Wind Light is too harsh on clothing colors and on avatar shapes, I’m adding two pictures not taken in my Photosphere and where I played around a little with the Environmental Settings.
