After I decided to start blogging again I said to myself “Daph” Yes, I call myself Daph. “Daph, If you are going to take photos in SL you need new poses.” Poses have come a long way in 8 years and I knew the ones I had from just a few years ago were not going to cut it.
One should not look like they dislocated a hip or will need reconstructive surgery in the name of blogging.
It just so happened that Pose Fair 2014 was going on at the same time. So off I went with a pocket full of Lindens and no idea what I was looking for. The first thing that caught my attention was the build itself. If you’ve been in Second Life for a few months, then you know there are fairs of one sort or another going on all the time. Most follow the same format: A sim or more with rows and rows of shops. Sometimes the rows take the form of city blocks, or winding paths or all the stores lining the edges of the sim and a few anchor or sponsor stores in the middle. After awhile you know what to expect and you prepare for it. You dress for lag, refill your drink and hope for the best. The Pose Fair wasn’t like this. First they limited the number of people in the sim to 30 at a time. The first time I wanted to go it took me several tries to get in. Once I did I was impressed by the concept of the build. I was walking in space and saw a few familiar sights out there with me.
But I was here to look for poses. And poses I did find. Some I’m not sure what I will do with them but they amused me…
I really don’t know what I’ll use this for, but I had to have it…
Overall I had a lot of fun jumping on pose stands. Most of the vendors here were selling static poses. Other than taking photos for blogs, Flickr or profile photos, what else would they be used for? If you know of other uses, please let me know in the comments. Now it’s time to put all the poses in pose stands and try not to lose them in my inventory.
Until next time,
